The Netherlands 2025
workshop description BREATH
Finding space in breath and movement
In this workshop, we explore the role of breath in relation to Xin—the Chinese concept uniting heart and mind, where sensation and thought converge.

Breathing is the most natural thing we do. Like the rhythm of our heartbeat, it quietly supports us and sustains us in life. But breath is more than a background process—it subtly mirrors our thoughts, emotions, and actions. These patterns can feel familiar, yet restrictive—limiting our freedom of movement, flexibility, and inner space. Breath is not merely physical—it’s an expression of who we are and how we move through life.

In Tai Chi Ch’uan practice, these breathing and movement patterns can begin to shift naturally. Through flowing, mindful movement, space opens within both body and breath. This reveals new layers of freedom, vitality, and effortlessness. The shift impacts not only the body but also our clarity of mind, sense of direction, and connection to ourselves and our surroundings.
By becoming aware of the relationship between breath and Xin—the unity of heart and mind—we learn that each inhale and exhale offers vital information about our well-being. From this awareness, our intention and will can be channeled toward focused, energy-efficient action.
This workshop offers you the opportunity to explore, experience, and integrate these insights into your own Tai Chi Ch’uan practice.

Yang Cheng Fu is recalled to have said to a student: “You’ve copied me well — but you’re still not doing Tai Chi Ch'uan.” He added, “You have the shell, but not the spirit.”
That pretty much says it all: Tai Chi Ch'uan isn’t just about how it looks — it’s about what happens inside. You can’t learn that from a screen. You have to experience it directly — through contact, movement, connection, and presence.
That’s why we hold only in-person workshops: to help you go beyond imitation and really embody the art.
Come step into it for yourself.
